  11. RETAIL PLUS+ is a retail management package that makes good inventory control
  12. and accurate sales tracking a breeze. It is designed to reduce your sales-to-
  13. inventory ratio and provide quick information about every item you carry. It
  14. is also designed to reduce the time you spend making up purchase orders,
  15. counting stock and tracking sales manually. It is an organizer, a record
  16. keeper, an analyzer and a time-saver. It includes a complete point-of-sale
  17. module with client database and bar code printing. For ease of use RETAIL
  18. PLUS+ has pull-down menus, pop-up windows and an extensive help system.

  54.                               SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  56. -> IBM-PC, PS/2, or compatibles.
  57. -> A hard disk drive with at least 1MB of free space.
  58. -> 640 KB of memory.
  59. -> A printer capable of compressed print (15 cpi), or a wide carriage printer
  60.    (132 columns). For printing barcode labels you will need an HP Laserjet or
  61.    work-alike printer.
  62. -> Optional -  an electronic  cash register  that sends  data to a  PC. This
  63.    version of Retail Plus+ is set up to  work with TEC brand cash registers.
  64.    If you want to use it  with another register system please  contact us for
  65.    more information. If you do not have a cash register that can send data to
  66.    a PC there are two other methods of entering sales into the system.

  70.                            INSTALLING RETAIL PLUS+
  71.  
  72. Retail Plus+ is supplied as an archive file called "RETAIL-P.ZIP". It contains
  73. all the files you need. Follow these steps to get a functioning system onto
  74. your hard drive:
  75.  
  76. 1 - At the "C:>" prompt create a new directory on your hard drive and go to
  77. that directory:
  78.  
  79.                       MD RETAIL             <press enter>
  80.                       CD\RETAIL             <press enter>
  81.  
  82. 2 - Using an archive un-packing utility such as PKUNZIP, unpack the contents
  83. of RETAIL-P.ZIP into the new directory:
  84.  
  85.         PKUNZIP [drive:\directory\] RETAIL-P  <press enter>
  86.

  88. 3 - Now check for a file called "CONFIG.SYS" in the root directory of the
  89. startup drive. If it is there it should contain the following statements with
  90. the minimum values shown:
  91.  
  92.                       FILES = 20
  93.                       BUFFERS = 8
  94.  
  95. You can see the contents of the file just by typing:
  96.  
  97.                       TYPE CONFIG.SYS       <press enter>
  98.  
  99. If these statements are absent you can use any text editor to insert them. If
  100. the file does not exist, you can easily create one with the following steps:
  101.  
  102. 1 - Go to the root directory:
  103.  
  104.                       CD\                   <press enter>
  105.  
  106. 2 - Create a file called CONFIG.SYS and put the two lines in it:
  107.  
  108.                       COPY CON CONFIG.SYS   <press enter>
  109.                       FILES = 20            <press enter>
  110.                       BUFFERS = 8           <press enter>
  111.  
  112. 3 - Close the file:
  113.  
  114.                       <press F6  then  press  enter>
